Billy Wolfe Octet
The Billy Wolfe Octet is an ensemble that exclusively performs original works. The group combines a modern, improvisatory style with inspiration from a variety of genres. The instrumentation—two woodwinds, trumpet, trombone, vibraphone, guitar, bass and drums—gives writers the flexibility and freedom to explore different timbral possibilities that are otherwise unavailable in many mid-sized groups.
The Octet has previously performed in Illinois, Ohio, Virginia and Washington, DC. Additionally, the group was recently featured on NPR's "Jazz Night in America" concert series alongside Linda May Han Oh's eight piece ensemble, "Aventurine". Left: The Octet at The Arrogant Frog (Chicago,IL)
